Quick Tent Set-Up Instructions
Each tent will have its own unique set-up directions. Most tents will work in a similar fashion and this "how to" should still be useful, especially if your tent directions have been lost.
First of all, you will want to spread out the fabric on the ground and assemble your pole sections. The floor corners of your tent should be staked before you set-up. Some tents are designed to be freestanding, so you may be able to wait on this step.
Next, you'll slide your poles into the sleeves on the body of the tent. Or, you may have to clip the fabric onto the pole framework. You will raise the tent as you clip. Attach your rain fly last. The tent may also have fittings that are attached on the outside for guy lines. These keep your tent in place and help to hold its shape.
Dome tents are very similar. You will lay the tent out on the ground and put your poles together. Slide the poles in the sleeves and the tent will take its shape with the poles are "stopped" and can't slide out. Next you can stake out your corners.
For the clip on style tents, assemble and set-up the frame. As you raise your poles into position, clip the tent fabric to the poles. Add the rain fly last.
If you have had your tent for several years, and perhaps it hasn't been used for several years, then you may not quite remember how to pitch your tent.
If you have any of the more popular brands of tents you can find set-up instructions and owner manuals available online from the manufacturer.
