Indoor Heating Options

Heaters in tents are generally quite dangerous. Fabrics and the tent may be fire retardant, but that doesn't mean fireproof. Small tents do not have enough space in them for a floor heater, so be very careful with these. If your campsite has electricity, there are heating and cooling units available. If you do decide to bring a heater inside, do so very carefully. Keep it in the center of the tent to avoid melting your tent material. You also need to keep the air circulating to avoid oxygen depletion.

Coleman offers a catalytic heater called the BlackCat that is safe to use in enclosed areas. They are specifically made for car camping. These heaters are connected to a small standard propane cylinder. All you have to do is push a button and the heater begins working. These heaters can quickly warm-up a six to ten person tent.

Enjoy your camping trip and indoor heating options.
