How to Keep Water From Freezing While Camping
When it comes to cold weather camping it is essential that you keep your drinking water from freezing. Water is essential even in cold weather to prevent dehydration. One way that you can prevent your drinking water from freezing is to use water bottles that are designed to withstand freezing and boiling temperatures. If you are backpacking or hiking during the day, you can heat the water before you head out and keep the bottle in an insulated cover.
In the evenings, if you are in a snow-covered area, you can bury the bottles in a snow bank. Mark the location with a pole or stick. The snow will insulate the bottles and prevent them from freezing. Another option is to place your water bottles at the foot of your sleeping bag. Insure that they are sealed tightly to keep you from getting your sleeping bag wet. Your body heat will keep the bottle from freezing.
